I need some help here from pro members... so feel free to post the question with the answer, and I'll update this thread.
Q - Can I do this stuff with small hands?
A - unless you can't even hold a deck of cards in your palm, you CAN do XCM. Most of it is flexibility versus hand size. I've seen small handed people do unbelievable stuff and large handed people that couldn't. Increase your flexibility by finger fintess... there is a whole section about it on the XB DVD, or you can check it out here: www.handhealth.com
Q - What is fanning powder and do I need it?
A - Fanning powder is powder that allows your cards to stay together a little easier. They make for better fans and spreads. Not all manipulators use it, as there is pros and cons to both. If you want to do incredible fans and spreads however... you should use it!
Q - Is there such a thing as learning a move wrong?
A - There are different ways to do many different moves. Some are certainly more efficient than others. For example Jerry's fanning methods allow you to show all the numbers on the cards and in a perfect fan shape, and you can even do it with both hands at the same time, whereas other methods are not near as beautiful. Jerry's spring technique allows you to go smoothly over your head as the fingertip spring does not. This is one reason we made the XB DVD, teaching what we feel are the best techniques out there, and if you compare other people's fans to Jerrys, I think you'll see there is a HUGE noticable difference!
Q - What are the best cards to use for XCM?
A - Most popular are Bicycles and Tally Hos.
Q - Where can I buy fanning powder, cards, and XCM material?
A - The handlordz store has it all! www.handlordz.de for the german store, and www.xtremehandz.com for our soon to open US store which will carry cards and everything. You can buy cards almost anywhere, even wallmart has bicycle backed cards. Pure XCM material is only available right now from Handlordz and Flourishman.com
Q - Will "flourish" or magic material help me?
A - Flourishes/magic is not XCM, however some of their flourishes/moves can be helpful in a XCM routine. There are some cuts such as Daryl's hot shot cut that is great for XCM! However be careful when purchasing this material as the focus is not on pure XCM... usually most DVDs (not Daryl's or McBrides
)you'll find horrible
teaching that are hard and frustrating to learn from and mostly teach only 2 handed cuts with some magic tricks and some possible basics that are usually
taught incorrectly - or definately not in the most efficient ways. Learning something wrong may cause you some pains in the future when you try to learn it
correctly. It's always best to learn it correctly the first time. If you've already got the basics down from XB (Xreme Beginnerz) correctly, and you
want some additional material in certain areas, it won't hurt to check some out. I purchased Daryl's encyclopedia of card sleights just for his hot
shot cut... lol... and it was worth every penny. Check our up-coming review section for a list of good/bad products.
Q - Can you actually make a living or do this live?
A - YES YES YES! We do it all the time! Why? - because entertainment is HUGE business! and unusual and exclusive performers are highly sought after! - mostly by the upper classes.... country clubs, resorts, cruise ships and on and on! It's different, and very cool. People absolutely love it! check out our pro guides for more info. We are focused on doing this professionally and make nice money doing it!
This will be ever progressing so add questions and answers as they come...
Thanks!
