I've always felt that avatars should be descriptive, unique, simple, and yet striking. I like Dr D's, and no one would mistake that avatar if they saw it elsewhere. Fits the bill.

No offense, guys, but EVERYONE on this forum seems to have a card avatar. Especially a fan.


I'm not a graphical artist, but I have the greatest respect for the Flourishman, and so I submit that his avatar should be something unique to his claim; one that cannot be mistaken anywhere for anyone else. So, my thoughts on the subject:

Interestingly enough, this is asked of by Doc 2 days after the following incident:

Talent card magician shows at the local magic shop from out of state. We get to talking after he sees me performing moves from XB1. He's got some flourishes, but wants to expand his flourish horizons. I show some moves, recommend some Tally-Hos, and a box of Fan-backs later I show him XB1. He's not interested in "beginner" and has too many DVDs, but he's seen De'vo's cobra and loves it.

"okaaaaay... you should consider Jerry Cestkowski's encyclopedia..."
Him: "Jerry who?"
And I stick my finger on the spine, right beneath the arm-spread pic and Jerry's name. You could see the clicks as gears aligned...

A pregnant pause later:
Him: "Oh. Yeah I've seen that around. I need to get that book."


The picture is definitely known amongst the card crowds.
